The Unicorn & Maiden
This necklace will probably be a one of a kind. Life is short and I just don't see myself having enough time to make another. I would like to make it again in colored golds, But I don't see it happening. The necklace is 19" long.The pendant is 2 3/4 X 2 1/2." The links feature either a maiden playing a swan harp, a Unicorn listening; or are made of vines and leaves with three flowers set with diamonds. The Unicorn and maiden links measure 1 1/8 X 5/8 ths inches. The flower links are 7/8 ths X 1/2 inches. The necklace is made of 18k yellow gold and weighs about 4 1/2 ounces. It is set with 1.40cts of diamonds, 1.10cts of sapphires; and 1.05cts of rubies. The strings in all of the harps are platinum. All of the figures in the necklace are fully sculpted in the round.
The " Unicorn and Maiden " necklaceis a good example of a complex piece, it is also typical of the type of work we do for collectors. A beautiful maiden went into the woods, where she could play her harp without distraction. She played so wonderfully that the woods fell silent as every creature of the forest stopped what it was doing to better hear the magical melody. Not too far away a Unicorn was at play he stopped, stood still; and listened. The Unicorn didn't pause for long though, for the maiden's music stirred him to dance. Out of the dense woods he came and right in front of the startled yet delighted maiden, he pranced and danced with a smile upon his face.
