The 'Tree of Life' was the celts way of connecting heaven to earth. The branches inter-twining into the heavens, and the roots meandering into the earth. It was their interpretation of how life was everlasting. Tribes would clear some land to prepare their new settlements and would leave the biggest tree in the centre, for they were regarded as living and magical.
